Extruding Plastic Flim
Extruding Plastic Film
Plastic film is produced from plastic granules. The granules are melted and blown into a bubble the bubble is pulled upwards and cooled. Once the bubble has cooled sufficiently it is wound onto rolls – this is called lay-flat-tube (LFT). This is a continuous bubble blowing process. By varying the process parameters we can vary the film's thickness and width.
The raw plastic granules produce clear film, by adding pigments we can make coloured film. We have over 30 stock pigments to choose from – and we can order in custom colours if required.
We can also produce gusseted film by 'pleating' the bubble before it is reaches the rollers.
If you would like to visit our factory and see how it is done please feel free to drop in during working hours Monday to Friday.
