Heavy Duty Bin Liners and 240L Drum Liners in Sydney - Plastpack (formerly known as Churchill & Coombes)

Plastpack (formerly known as Churchill & Coombes) manufactures heavy duty bin liners and 240 litre drum liners at our Sydney facility for industrial and commercial sites across Australia. Each liner measures 1000mm wide by 1500mm long, sized to fit a 240 litre drum or a standard 240L wheelie bin, and is stocked in four thicknesses from 50 micron through to 150 micron. Most bin liners sold in Australia top out at 30 to 40 micron, so when a site tells us their heavy duty bin bags keep splitting, this is the range we point them to. We extrude the film and form every liner in house, which means the micron on the box is the micron in the bag, carton after carton.

Our Bin Liner and Drum Liner Range

Four stocked grades cover light lining duty through to the most punishing industrial loads. All four share the same 1000mm x 1500mm footprint and are packed 100 per sleeve, so a site can run one liner size across drums, wheelie bins and large waste receptacles and only change the micron to suit the waste stream.

50 Micron: Light Duty Lining

The 50 micron liner suits applications where the bag acts purely as a barrier: lining drums for dry goods, keeping product batches separated, or protecting a clean drum from residue. It is still thicker than most heavy duty bin bags on the market, so it also serves as a strong general purpose 240L bin liner for commercial wheelie bins carrying dense mixed waste.

75 Micron: Commercial Heavy Duty

The 75 micron grade is the working liner for commercial kitchens, back-of-house waste rooms and workshops. Wet food waste, glass, packaging offcuts and mixed trade waste sit inside it without stretching the film to failure. Cleaning contractors and facility managers who deal with regular bag failures at collection usually settle on this grade.

100 Micron: Industrial and Dust Extraction

At 100 micron the liner is built for tear and puncture resistance under mechanical stress. It is the standard specification for industrial dust extractors, where the bag is dragged, compressed and loaded with fine abrasive waste. Metal shops, joineries and manufacturing plants run this grade in extraction units and swarf bins.

150 Micron: Extra Heavy Duty

The 150 micron liner handles the loads nothing else will: sharp offcuts, dense wet waste, heavy sludge and contaminated material that must not leak in transit. Sites that handle regulated or hazardous waste streams pair this grade with the correct colour coding and labelling for their permit conditions.

240L Bin Liners for Drums and Wheelie Bins

The 1000mm x 1500mm size is deliberate. It lines a 240 litre drum with a snug fit that stops slippage during filling, and the same liner drops into a 240L wheelie bin with enough length to fold over the rim and stay put through collection. Facilities that run both drums and wheelie bins carry one carton instead of two.

What Size Is a 240L Bin Liner?

A 240L bin liner is sized around 1000mm wide by 1500mm long. This fits a standard 240L wheelie or council bin with enough overhang to fold over the rim, so the liner stays in place and is easy to lift out when full. The same dimensions give a snug fit inside a 240 litre drum.

240L Bin Bag Thickness Options

We supply 240 litre bin bags from 50 micron to 150 micron. Choose 50 micron for light lining, 75 micron for wet commercial waste, and step up to 100 or 150 micron for sharp, abrasive or heavy loads. For lighter duty 240L bin bags in 20 to 30 micron for general waste and recycling, see our garbage bags range, which covers 73L through to 240L wheelie bin sizes.

Heavy Duty Bin Bags for Tough Waste

When standard bags split and leak, you need a heavy duty bin bag built for the load. Most bags sold as heavy duty are 30 to 40 micron. Our range starts at 50 micron and runs to 150 micron, extruded from high-quality polyethylene for strength with the right amount of flex.

Industrial Bin Liners

Our industrial bin liners suit workshops, factories and trade clean-ups where bags take a beating. The 100 micron grade is the standard specification for dust extractors and swarf bins, where the bag is compressed and dragged under load and needs genuine tear and puncture resistance.

Hazardous Waste Bin Liners

For sites that handle hazardous or contaminated waste, the 150 micron grade contains material that must not leak in transit. Match the thickness and colour coding to your permit conditions and site rules, and we will help you set the specification up. Regulated streams such as asbestos have their own purpose-made product in our asbestos bags.

Bin Liner Size and Thickness Guide

Grade Fits Size (mm) Thickness Typical duty Pack
Light duty 240L drum or wheelie bin 1000 x 1500 50 micron Dry goods lining, batch separation, dense general waste 100
Heavy duty 240L drum or wheelie bin 1000 x 1500 75 micron Commercial kitchens, wet waste, trade clean-ups 100
Industrial 240L drum or wheelie bin 1000 x 1500 100 micron Dust extractors, swarf, abrasive industrial waste 100
Extra heavy duty 240L drum or wheelie bin 1000 x 1500 150 micron Sharp, sludge and contained hazardous streams 100
Liners are supplied by the sleeve, excluding GST. Micron equals one thousandth of a millimetre, so the 150 micron grade carries three times the film of the 50 micron liner. Our note on what thickness you need explains how to match micron to load before you order.

Industries We Supply

Drum liners keep product batches apart in food processing, pharmaceutical and chemical plants, where a fresh liner between batches removes the cross-contamination risk of washing drums between runs. Food manufacturers use them alongside our food grade carton liners to keep every stage of handling protected.
  • Food processors, manufacturers and packers using liners for batch separation
  • Pharmaceutical and chemical plants managing cross-contamination control
  • Workshops, metal shops and joineries lining dust extractors and swarf bins
  • Restaurants, commercial kitchens and hospitality back-of-house waste rooms
  • Warehouses, logistics sites and loading docks
  • Cleaning contractors, facilities management, schools and councils
Each setting has its own waste stream, so we help you pick the micron and colour coding that keeps bins clean and staff safe.

Why Specify Bin Liners from the Manufacturer

A reseller's heavy duty liner is whatever their supplier shipped that month. Plastpack (formerly known as Churchill & Coombes) has manufactured plastic bags in Sydney since 1928, extruding our own polyethylene film and forming liners on site.
  • Micron is controlled on the extruder and weld strength is checked on the line, so the specification does not drift between orders.
  • Film stock is held at the factory, so repeat orders dispatch fast Australia wide and standing orders keep regular sites supplied without running short.
  • Sites with unusual drums, extraction units or bins get liners made to measure rather than a near-enough standard size.
  • Samples are available, so you can load a liner with your actual waste before committing to volume.
  • Our team helps you match the micron to the load, so you are not paying for thickness the job does not need.
Browse our website for more categories such as plastic bags, industrial bags and garbage bags, all made at the same factory.

Custom Drum Liners and Bin Liners

If your drums, extraction units or bins fall outside the standard 240 litre format, we manufacture liners to your width, length, gusset and micron. Colour can be specified for waste stream coding, and liners can be printed for handling instructions or site identification. Minimum run quantities apply to custom work, and our team will confirm specification and lead time from your measurements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size bin liner fits a 240L wheelie bin?

A liner around 1000mm wide by 1500mm long fits a standard 240L wheelie bin with enough length to fold over the rim and stay in place. The same size lines a 240 litre drum with a snug fit that stops slippage during filling.

What is the difference between a drum liner and a bin liner?

They are the same style of bag put to different work. A drum liner protects the drum and keeps batches separated, while a bin liner contains waste for removal. Our 240L liners are sized to do both jobs, which is why one carton covers drums and wheelie bins.

How thick should heavy duty bin bags be?

Most bags sold as heavy duty are 30 to 40 micron. For loads that split those bags, start at 50 micron and move to 75 micron for wet commercial waste. Sharp or abrasive industrial waste needs 100 to 150 micron for reliable puncture resistance.

What thickness do I need for an industrial dust extractor?

Specify 100 micron for dust extraction units. The bag in an extractor is compressed and dragged under load, so it needs genuine tear and puncture resistance. For very abrasive or heavy extraction waste, step up to the 150 micron grade.

Are these liners suitable for food processing?

Yes. A fresh liner between batches prevents cross-contamination without washing drums between runs, which is why food, pharmaceutical and chemical processors use them as standard. Talk to our team about your handling requirements and we will confirm the right grade.

Can I buy 240L bin liners in bulk across Australia?

Yes. Liners are packed 100 per sleeve and supplied in commercial quantities with delivery Australia wide from our Sydney factory. Standing orders are available for sites that reorder on a cycle, and custom sizes and thicknesses are made to order.
