Where Write On Panel Bags Are Used
Parts distribution and workshops
Fasteners, fittings, seals and service kits marked with part numbers and job references, so the right bag is picked without opening it.
Manufacturing and quality control
Retained samples, first-off pieces and batch segregation marked with batch codes, dates and inspection references.
Food production and packing
Portioned goods and prepared items marked with production dates and product codes for stock rotation. Specify food contact use when you enquire so the correct film is supplied.
Pharmacy, laboratory and clinical support
General storage, dispensing support and non-regulated sample handling where contents need clear identification. For pathology transport, see our
specimen bags, which are made for that purpose.
Warehousing and dispatch
Loose components, returns and quarantined stock identified in place without a printer or label stock on hand.
Specifying the Right Bag
Size. Measured as opening width by depth, with depth taken from the seal. Match the bag to the product so contents sit securely without excess film flapping around the closure.
Gauge. Write on panel bags are made in 50 micron, which suits light to moderate contents and general handling. If your product has weight, sharp edges or a long freight leg ahead of it, the
heavy duty 75 micron press seal bag resists puncture and holds the seal better. Our guide on
what thickness you need works through the decision in detail.
Panel position and depth. On a custom run the panel can be sized and placed to suit how your team writes and how the bag sits when filled. Tell us what goes on the panel and we will specify accordingly.
Marking. A permanent marker gives the most durable result, particularly where bags are handled repeatedly or stored cold. Test your marker on a sample before committing to a production quantity.
Manufactured, Not Resold
Plastpack extrudes its own film, prints it and forms the finished bag under one roof. We hold substantial film stock, which is why lead times on standard specifications stay short and repeat orders dispatch quickly across Australia. If a stock size does not fit your product, we make to measure on size, gauge, panel and seal. Minimum order quantity on a custom size is 10,000 units, and samples can be supplied for evaluation before you commit to a production run.
Where the bag also needs to carry branding or handling information, our
printed press seal bags combine the write on panel with up to six colour printing on the same run.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a write on panel bag?
It is a press seal bag with a matt printed strip across the face that takes pen or marker. The panel holds the mark through handling, so contents can be identified without opening the bag.
What pen should I use on a write on panel?
A permanent marker gives the most durable result, particularly for bags that are handled repeatedly or stored in cold conditions. Ballpoint and pencil will work on the panel but mark less clearly. Test your marker on a sample first.
Will the writing rub off?
The panel is designed to hold ink far better than clear film, which resists marking altogether. With a permanent marker, writing stays legible through normal picking, transfer and storage.
Are write on panel bags available in heavy duty?
Our stock write on panel bags are 50 micron. Heavier gauges are available as a custom run, and our
heavy duty 75 micron press seal bags are the stock option where puncture resistance matters more than the panel.
Can write on panel bags be used for food?
We manufacture food grade film for food contact applications, made to the relevant Australian food safety requirements. Specify food use when you enquire so the correct film is supplied.
Can I order a custom size or panel?
Yes. As the manufacturer we produce to your size, gauge, panel position and seal type. The minimum quantity for a custom size is 10,000 units, with printing available on the same run.
